Overnight Cruise aboard Hurtigruten

Hurtigruten uses a fleet of 11 ships that cruise up and down the west coast of Norway. The larger 1,000-passenger ships travel 1,490 miles into the Arctic, while the smaller 290-passenger ships cruise shorter segments. Almost all of them start at or make a stop in Bergen. All ships share the same look and feel, with viewing decks, lounges, cafes, bars and gift shops, cafes, and elevators between decks. Cabins come with windows, en-suite bathroom with hot shower, and Wi-Fi.

Sondre is from Skien in southern Norway, but moved to the mountains on the west coast where he lives now. He is passionate about the outdoors and has broad guiding experience from the sea to the mountains, both in summer and in winter. Sondre is studying for his BA in Adventure Education & Wilderness Leadership, and enjoys introducing people to the wonders of his home—Norway.

Who will meet me on arrival?

On Day 1, your trip leader will meet you in the arrivals hall of Oslo's Gardermoen Airport (OSL) between 12pm and 12:15pm. We'll then transfer as a group to our hotel in Oslo.

Are hiking poles provided or recommended for this trip?

This trip is moderate with good paths, so hiking poles are not mandatory. However, if you like to hike with poles, you should bring your own on this trip.

Are there hairdryers available at all of the accommodations?

Yes.

Do any of the hotels on this trip provide laundry service?

No. We recommend bringing your own small bottle of Woolite or similar to wash items in your room.

Will there be mosquitos on this trip?

No. Because of the sea breeze that we frequently encounter on this trip, the mosquitos are not a problem.

Is there a weight limit for luggage on this trip?

On the last day of the trip, when we transfer from Leknes to Bodo by plane, there is a weight limit of 8 kilograms (17 pounds) for your CARRY ON LUGGAGE ONLY.
